Outdoor Wonders: Ideal Garden DecorNot many people give a thought to planning their garden decor, but a well-decorated garden can be one of the most aesthetically pleasing parts of your house, and mark you out as a creative genius among friends and neighbors! So what can you look at when you think of decorating your garden? Wind Chimes: For most people, wind chimes come to mind most readily when they think of garden décor. The variety is endless and almost uniformly pleasing, and the costs range from moderate to relatively expensive. For the exceptionally creative-minded, making wind chimes at home is a distinct possibility because their structure is so simple. When hung on the patio or from a tree, they produce the most delightful twinkling whenever they catch a draught. Garden Furniture: Once again, a lot of people would be very willing to spend a lot of time in their gardens, if only thy had something nice to sit on. So what’s keeping you from installing comfortable cane chairs or garden benches plumped up with nice cushions? If your garden permits, you could even string up a hammock between two handy trees. And don’t forget the garden umbrella to stand guard over your chairs! Containers: Decorate a few large pots and grow plants that you can relocate every few days to give your garden a new look. There are lots of herbs and flowers that do particularly well in containers, which can then be placed on the patio or round the main seating area. A very good way to create a gorgeous display is by growing color-coordinated flowers and positioning them appropriately. Lights/ Lanterns: I’m sure a lot of you know about this already, but for those that don’t, you can actually buy these large garden candles nowadays, of the ordinary as well as aromatic kinds, which will burn for hours and fill your garden with heavenly fragrances. Of course, you can only burn them on calm nights, but you will have to opt for paper lanterns when there’s a breeze blowing. Yet another great alternative are solar powered lights, because you don’t have to bother with cables, batteries or plugs. All you need to do is re-charge them in full sunlight during the day. Water Features: Create a water feature that will suit your garden as well as your pocket. Choose well, because you don’t want a pond or fountain that is either too big or too small for your garden. Whatever you choose, it is sure to be a soothing addition to your garden décor. Rock Gardens: You can have rock gardens in different themes throughout the year if you plan ahead a little. All you need to do is to keep the area accessible so that you can do the weeding and watering as and when required. Experiment with different plants and flowers until the final view is satisfactory. Bird Baths: There are so many beautiful birdbaths on the market these days that you will be hard pressed to find the one that you want. There are both the traditional as well as contemporary varieties, at prices that do not over-stretch your budget. Besides, alongside the beautiful birdbaths, you get the bonus of beautiful birds visiting your garden as well. Garden Statues: Of course, these are more appropriate for slightly larger gardens, and you can either choose to make them a humorous addition to your garden décor, or an elegant one. A wacky garden gnome or a gorgeous fairy – it’s all within reach! |
